Day 13: She Reads Truth

I have been in an 11 day devotional series called She Reads Truth: Philippians. #SheReadsTruth was started by two women who wanted to read the bible daily and wanted to hold each other accountable. Others started asking what they were doing, so this community of women formed who do just as the hashtag says: they read Truth…together. I have an extreme amount of gratitude toward this movement because this was the devotional that God used to help me get back into the Word. I have been lacking a zeal to want to study Scripture, really even want to pursue a relationship with God. This devotional gave me glimpse of the greatness and goodness of the Lord. It showed me how through my strength, I can do nothing, but through God’s, I am made strong. This devotional helped me understand (once again, this lesson sometimes does not stick) that God loves me deeply and I should stay steadfast in Him as he does not waiver in any circumstance. So thankful for a God who chooses us when we don’t choose Him.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” -Philippians 4:4-9
